VHS Cover Of The Day - Dark Angel AKA I Come In Peace

Being as I'm in kind of on a Dolph Lundgren kick right now after just revisiting one of my favorite comic book films of all time and one of my favorite all around Dolph Lundgren films The Punisher and just seeing the totally badass Army of One for the very first time I thought I'd post this sweet U.K. PAL VHS cover of one of my favorite Dolph films ever, I Come In Peace (as it's known in the states) AKA Dark Angel
I just recently snagged this sucker on eBay a few weeks ago and it makes a nice addition to my collection. I'm  quickly preferring the PAL VHS cassettes to the U.S. versions as they always seem to have way better covers than ours, and they always come in clamshell cases, a plus in my book.

  1. I never understood the whole cardboard box thing with the US tapes(and japanese, too sometimes) those cardboard boxes don`t protect the cassette at all.

  2. Hey I'm with you on that. I never understood it too. I'm sure it just had to do with saving money and using cardboard is much more cost effective. I hate it though. I'm a clamshell guy. :)

  3. Nice, I have the "I Come in Peace" version on VHS, unfortunately in that cardboard box-- you just have to be careful with them...

  4. Yea, and our cover art just isn't as cool as the U.K. version either. I have the VHS collectors edition in widescreen, which is cool. But I just got my hands on the Laserdisc which I'm anxious to see. Might end up being the clearest version in my collection. lol. Man, this needs to be put on a U.S. DVD or Blu-ray with tons of extras! Why is it taking so long?

  5. Maybe the overall economy troubles are playing into that, i dunno. Or sometimes the rights holder just wants too much money, or whatnot...Id love to have a little film company , releasing certain films. That would be fun...

  6. The DVD just got released in the US finally under its original title, DARK ANGEL, and the MOD ("manufactured on demand") program from MGM...

  7. Ingo, yes I agree. You can release all of our favorite hard to find films and even give them special clamshell VHS releases as well for us collectors. :)

Anonymous, that's awesome news! I hadn't heard anything about this awesome film getting a proper DVD U.S. release. Could you point me in the right direction possibly? Maybe where we can find it? I can't seem to find it on any site, other than the region 2 DVD.
